Day wise itinerary:

Day 1: Arrival in Guwahati – Transfer to Bhalukpong
  • Arrive at Guwahati Airport or Railway Station, and begin your journey into Arunachal Pradesh with a drive to Bhalukpong, a scenic town on the Assam–Arunachal border.
  • Complete Inner Line Permit (ILP) formalities at the border. Bhalukpong is known for its forests, rivers, and mountain air.
  • Check into your hotel and relax amidst nature.
  • Overnight in Bhalukpong
    • Day 2: Bhalukpong – Dirang
  • After breakfast, drive to Dirang, a peaceful hill station nestled in the Eastern Himalayas.
  • En route, visit the Tipi Orchid Centre, home to over 7500 orchids, and enjoy the forested drive. In Dirang, explore the beautiful Dirang Dzong (fort-like village) and visit the Dirang Monastery.
  • You may also visit the hot water springs, believed to have medicinal properties.
  • Overnight in Dirang
    • Day 3: Dirang – Tawang via Sela Pass
  • Post breakfast, drive to Tawang, the crown jewel of Arunachal Pradesh. On the way, cross the breathtaking Sela Pass (13,700 ft), often snow-covered and offering majestic views.
  • Stop at Sela Lake, Paradise Lake, and the Jaswant Garh War Memorial, dedicated to the hero of the 1962 India-China war.
  • Arrive in Tawang by evening and check in to your hotel.
  • Overnight in Tawang
    • Day 4: Tawang Local Sightseeing
  • Start your day with a visit to the spectacular Tawang Monastery, the second-largest in the world and a spiritual center of Mahayana Buddhism.
  • Visit the Tawang War Memorial, honoring soldiers of the 1962 Sino-Indian war, and Buddha Park, featuring a giant Buddha statue with a peaceful vibe.
  • In the afternoon, explore the Craft Centre, showcasing traditional Monpa weavings and woodwork.
  • Overnight in Tawang
    • Day 5: Tawang – Bum La Pass & Madhuri Lake Excursion
  • Today, take a day trip to Bum La Pass (15,200 ft), near the Indo-China border — a place of strategic and historic importance.
  • En route, visit the stunning Shonga-tser Lake (Madhuri Lake), named after the Bollywood actress for a scene filmed here in Koyla, and PT Tso Lake, a serene high-altitude water body surrounded by pine forests and mountains. Return to Tawang by evening.
  • Overnight in Tawang

    • Day 6: Tawang – Bomdila
  • After breakfast, begin your return journey and drive to Bomdila, a charming town with views of the snow-clad Himalayan ranges.
  • Visit the Bomdila Monastery, a peaceful spot perfect for evening prayers and relaxation. You can also explore the local Tibetan-style market for souvenirs.
  • Overnight in Bomdila
    • Day 7: Bomdila – Guwahati Departure
  • Check out early and drive back to Guwahati, passing through scenic valleys and rivers along the way.
  • On arrival, proceed directly to Guwahati Airport or Railway Station for your onward journey, carrying with you unforgettable memories of the Tawang highlands and Monpa culture.
